With 10 miles white sand beach and non-stop nightlife, Cancun is the most famous tourist destination in Yucatan Peninsula. Cancun’s Hotel Zone boasts a wide variety of world-class resorts with facilities for large weddings, many of which can host up to eight hundred guests.
Wedding photography in Cancun
The majority of large hotels in Cancun have impressive architectural features, such as staircases, arches, lobby areas, outdoor patios, and marble floors that offer creative lighting and beautiful scenery. I enjoy working with my clients to incorporate these unique features into my photo shoots.
I also suggest documenting brides and wedding parties in a variety of locales, such as discos, bars, or souvenir shops, as the contrast between formal wedding attire and the casual ambiance of these tourist spots creates very memorable photos.
Choosing a resort in Cancun for your wedding
- If you’re planning a Catholic ceremony in Cancun, The Royal Cancun and JW Marriott Cancun Resort have consecrated front beach chapels. The Hotel Zone also has a large catholic church that hosts wedding ceremonies. Couples who select this church typically plan their reception at a neighboring hotel.
- Weather in Cancun. The area has an average of three hundred sunny days a year, but from April to October there are often brief storms during the afternoon hours, and temperatures can be quite hot. Between October and March, when the regional temperatures are, cooler, I recommend that clients plan a beachfront ceremony and reception. Couples planning outdoor and beachfront ceremonies should have a back-up plan in case of bad weather.
- How many guests you will have? Most of Cancun resorts are able to receive weddings over 800 guests. But for an for an intimate wedding, I suggest choosing smaller resorts in the Maya Riviera or informal beach club settings such as Ak’inn in Tulum or Blue Cacao in Playa del Carmen.
